Recently, news about corruption is broadcasted everywhere, everytime. Latest is the news about Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) found some evidence which refer to Mr. AU involvement in Hambalang Case. When KPK made a press conference about it, in the other side, some journalists came into Mr. AU's house to get some clarification/ information from him. But they got nothing on that day, because none of the residents came out. Was his family there when the journalist came or they escaped to somewhere? I just wondering how the family cope with media exposure.
In my opinion, media nowadays often exaggerated when presented certain issues and sometimes it will make people overreacted. They expose an issue too much, neither the quantity of broadcast nor the duration. Media also presenting issue dramatically, maybe in order to get high rating only? Tsk. I said that because I took a course: psychology media, so I often observe how media presents issues/ information ( I wrote a post about the exaggeration of media before). In example when media presented an issue about someone involvement in a corruption case. Some media, through their provocative headline and narration, lead audience to conclude that the 'suspect' is the same with (as if) a defendant. So the suspect will be judged convicted by people. That's unfair because our country has law principle: presumption of innocence.
I can't imagine how the family of Mr. AU feel, especially the children. In think when someone is involved in corruption, their family will get the most impact. Not only the impact from the money corruption itself but also from media exposure. (You can read this post to know about compensations of living with 'haraam' money just as from corruption). Sooner or later, the children will hear the news about their father. They also will hear/ read/ watch negative comments about their beloved father and maybe will be questioned and criticized by their friends
