Passion /ˈpaʃ(ə)n/ n
a strong liking (Longman Dictionary)
an intense desire or enthusiasm for something (http://oxforddictionaries.com)

Month ago, I did an internship in one of people management consulting in Jakarta. The job is to collect data with some methods: time motion study (observe some activities and calculate its time), interview, and workshop. Honestly, I never imagine that I’ll do a job related to human resources like this, so does my friend. She asked me: “Are you sure to do this? I think this is not your interest. I think you like to work at school or something that related to children.” My friend doesn’t wrong actually. My  passion is on education and children.  But at that time, I had no productive activity beside lying on my bed, felt boring because just stay at home, and –the main reason was- felt empty....on my wallet! Ahahahaha. So I decided to take the job. Try to earn money, and think positively that it would be fun because I’ll do something new even it out of my passion, doing interview and wondered how I deal with that (for me, interview someone is something challenging). Alhamdulillah, I always excited for trying something new so I start the internship with happy feeling  :D

The client is a local bank. So, my team and I should go to their branch in some areas. I went to their branch in Jakarta (Kebayoran Baru, Mangga Dua and Hayam Wuruk area), Bekasi-Bantargebang, Cilegon and the last: Surabaya! Kyaaa~ I really really excited to know that I would go to Surabaya by plane! This is my first time to go Surabaya and having trip by plane! Wihiiiii~

Overall, my job was fun. I met many people, interviewed, observed them and talked with them about their job, often about everything in life. Most of them are helpful and nice. Maybe the most and the only boring part is  when I must input the data to the designed template. Gratefully my team is cheerful and fun, very helped me to cope with the stress given by the job.

Even it was fun, doing this job make me sure that all I want to do in life is not here, but there: in education, in children’s world. In this job, I just struggle to finish my assignment and often asked myself: “when it will finish?”. But when I do something that related to education and children, not only to finish the assignment but also think what should I do to be better, what can I do for improvement, and feel excited just wondering what will be happen next.

From this experience, one thing I can conclude is, maybe we’ll be happy doing something without passion. But doing something on our passion will make us want to give our best which can’t do without passion.

Thank you for this experience, Allah. Now I can live my passion doubtlessly ;)
(Still, I always wanna be a child psychologist. Let me pass the exam, Allah. #prayHard)

Passion makes work fun; it also helps overcome the trying times that are sure to come. - Robert T. Kiyosaki
